Why this tool exists

It turns dock delays into a detention-cost discussion supported by timing evidence instead of guesswork.

How it works

  1. Enter the waiting event details.
  2. The tool checks detention cost exposure against practical road-freight rules.
  3. Use the result to support a detention discussion with evidence.

FAQ

What counts as billable waiting time?

Most carrier contracts include 2 hours of free loading/unloading and start metering after that. The tool applies the 2-hour grace period by default — adjust it if your specific contract differs (some shippers negotiate 3 hours or a different per-hour rate).

Are the per-hour rates from real carriers?

Yes — they are median rates across our last 12 months of Remo&Co invoices, segmented by vehicle class and country. Premium carriers and time-critical lanes can charge double; warehouse-region carriers can be 30% under the median.

How do I keep waiting-time costs from getting out of hand?

Tight delivery windows, pre-booked dock slots, and a reliable contact at the receiving site — those three resolve roughly 80% of waiting. For chronic offenders we help renegotiate either the carrier contract or the receiver's terms before the relationship goes sour.
