Tool input

Vehicle
Operations
International operations? Does this vehicle cross EU borders for transport (loaded or empty)?
Hire or reward (third-party transport)? Yes if you transport goods for paying customers; no if it is own-account only (your own goods, your own logistics).
Performs cabotage? Cabotage = domestic transport in a country other than the country of registration. Pulls own-account international flows back into scope.
Readiness
Smart tachograph (G2V2) installed? The latest-generation tachograph required from 1 July 2026 for in-scope LCVs.
Driver card / data download process active? A documented process to issue driver cards and download tachograph data on the regulatory cadence.

Required questions are marked with an asterisk. Optional answers sharpen the readiness score.

Why this tool exists

It helps van operators spot whether a 2026 EU compliance workflow may apply before the vehicle is dispatched.

How it works

  1. Enter the van operation details.
  2. The tool checks 2026 LCV scope and readiness against practical road-freight rules.
  3. Use the result to prepare compliance actions before dispatch.

FAQ

What exactly does the 2026 LCV regulation change?

The package tightens CO2 limits for light commercial vehicles registered from 2026, mandates more advanced driver-assistance systems (AEB, lane-keep, drowsiness detection), and introduces stricter cargo-securing requirements for vehicles over 3.5T.

Which vehicles fall in scope?

New light commercial vehicles (N1 category up to 3.5T) registered after 1 January 2026 in the EU. Vehicles already in service before that date keep their original homologation — but cross-border operators must still respect destination-country rules at point of delivery.

What should I do if I am non-compliant?

Talk to Remo&Co before procurement — we flag which configurations stay legal across all your operating countries and which retrofits are eligible for funding. Replacement timing matters: ordering before/after specific cutoff dates affects type-approval.
